Bloggers Quilt Fesitval!

I just love the Bloggers Quilt Festival! Thank you so much Amy for your inspirataion and continued willingness to host it. If you would like to see all of the other participating blogs, just click on the button :)

My quilt this time around is a queen sized bed quilt for my very own bed. You know the old tale of the shoemakers children going without shoes? Well, my dear hubby has been asking for a time for one of my quilts for OUR bed. *Of course, the pup had to get in on the action!*

I put it off for so long:
A. because we have moved SO much thanks to the Army
B. I couldn't decide on the appropriate colors
C. I don't love making large quilts

Now, we are settled though, and I had no more excuses. Our bedroom walls are a sagey green with white trim. Dh really likes more traditional fabrics and patterns so we decided together on the fabric line Glace by Moda. It's really a Christmas line, but really it had so few obviously Christmas prints that I knew it would be just fine.
Pattern is a disappearing 9 patch. Quick and easy!
The best part about this quilt, though, is that I had an opportunity to visit my sister over Spring Break and quilt this on her mid-arm. So fun! I made tons of mistakes, but it was so much easier than straining my muscles trying to quilt this on my home machine!

Have fun visiting all the quilts and blogs!

Beautiful quilt! I love Glace. I know what you mean about being the last to get your own quilt. Even my kids sometimes wonder when I'm ever going to make a quilt we can keep. :)

Congrats on finishing a BIG quilt too. That is an achievement!

I enjoy making the Disappearing Nine Patch pattern! This one is so pretty and does not look Christmassy at all. Wonderful quilt, thanks for sharing.

I never get tired of looking at 3 Sisters fabric, and your quilt is gorgeous! The d9p pattern really highlights all the great prints in this collection.

Wow! It's so gorgeous! I would love to see a picture of it with your walls. :) My husband keeps asking when I'm going to make a large one for our bed too (cal king) but the sheer size makes me nervous!

This is gorgeous! My Fella constantly complains that he can't get buttons sewn back onto his shirts! : )

Beautiful quilt! I need to make one with the disappearing nine patch pattern. I can totally relate to the "cobbler's children" sentiment, as well as making large quilts. You've inspired me to get going on my own bed quilt!

That's a nice quilt, and the quilting looks so interesting with swoops and swirls. So nice to actually sleep under a quilt you've made for hubby and self !

My daughter's name is Kelley, she has 3 little ones, and her hubby is army, stationed at Ft. Sill in Ok.....she'll stop speaking to me if I tell her about YOU, with a similar family, having time to make quilts. I'm glad, though, that you have a creative outlet !

And THANK YOU to your husband, for his service to us all......God bless your family !

This is gorgeous! You did an awesome job. And it really doesn't look like Christmas fabric at all!

I'm not sure I'll ever get a bed sized quilt made- too many other projects to work on :)

Love your colors! I, too, hope to make a quilt for my own bed some day. Queen size seems so daunting, but I will get it done one day. Yours inspires me!
